Parish Council Websites

Technology

There are many companies advertising website design, maintenance and hosting for Parish and Community Councils in the UK. Most of these use the Wordpress content management system (CMS) to build them.

Wordpress is a very powerful system with thousands of developers across the world building plug-ins for it. But it can also be very complicated to manage, vulnerable to hacking if not religiously kept up-to-date, and sites on it can be very slow to load unless they've been carefully put together.

Our system doesn't use Wordpress. It's called Spanglefish 3 and is fully programmed by us, built to be as easy-to-use as possible and has functions specifically designed to be used by local councils. It's less vulnerable to hackers because, frankly, hackers are less likely to spend their efforts on small-fry systems like ours.

And sites on our system are streamlined and very fast to load.
